Listen to this article
Ribbons tied in a braid, in black ebony hair.
Flowing along in the air!
Red ribbons dangling from the plaits,
as she runs up towards the gate!

Ribbons all over the place!
Coming lose and tapping on the shoulder.
Running along to the beach,
falling onto the granite boulder!
Red ribbons dancing in the hair!
Can we see them knotted there?
In pretty bows for all to see!
Whilst I bounce the baby on the knee!
Ribbons meeting the hand that strokes my hair!
Can we be met there?
By the granite boulder, seen at the window by the stair!
Can we meet there?
Red ribbons that tie the hair into plaits!
Nanny did that!
Tied the plaits!
Nanny did that, hold me close!
Nanny did that, tied the red ribbons in my hair!
